Why RiverCity?
Hobart and its suburbs is a City built along both sides of the beautiful River Derwent, and is very much a River City, where people who live here have mostly positioned themselves to live and enjoy the many vistas’ the river provides. We are famous for our water sports and yachting skills as well as the great fishing the river provides.
 
A River is a metaphor which represents many things. Ultimately, it is a picture of the fresh flowing water of life that God sends into our lives when we enter into a relationship with Him. Rather than a stagnant pool of water, it is a river that is flowing freely. It is dynamic and moving and full of fresh water … Living Water.
In John’s Gospel Chapter 7:37-38 The Message Bible ‘He (Jesus) cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.  Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says."
Individually our lives as Christians can be a river of God’s love and grace.

RiverCity Christian Church is located just minutes from the City Centre, located in the vibrant restaurant area of North Hobart, we founded in 1965 as Full Gospel Church Hobart, but in 2004 we changed our name to reflect with the new vision the Lord had given us, and to reflect a more contemporary name to the unchurched community.
